Something that I make a HIGH priority when it comes to my wedding clients is creating a safe space for ALL of my clients to be themselves in front of the camera. I work hard and pride myself in taking the time to get to know you starting from the second you send over an inquiry form. I believe that getting to know your photographer (and them getting to know you) is the first and most crucial step to having an incredible wedding photography experience.
The Importance of Knowing Your Photographer
Photos are a super vulnerable thing. You as my client will be trusting me to get an in depth look at one of the most important days of your life. I joke with my couples that you will spend more time with me on your wedding day than you will with your soon to be spouse, so it is important that we not only jive and can have fun together but that we can also trust each other. In order to help you to trust me I have put together a list of fun things about myself that I’m going to guess you probably didn’t know about me.
Way before I was a photographer...
One fun fact most people don't know is that before I became a photographer I worked my first job as a monster at Fright Fest Great America. While I didn’t end up pursuing this for the rest of my working career, it was DEFINITELY entertaining and I have loads of stories if you need something to laugh about during your session.
I’m obsessed with...
The Great British baking show. It is actually one of my dreams to be on the show even though I’m pretty sure you have to live in England to be a part of it. Everyone is seriously just so fun and kind on the show I could just watch it all day, hence why I would LOVE to be a part of it as well!
When I was a kid...
My imagination was pretty all over the place. I actually had 2 imaginary friends when I was little named Fook + Feek whom I spent a lot of time with as a child (let’s be real, who didn’t have an imaginary friend?). Then when I was 7 I had two lizards that I actually named Fook + Feek as well. My parents liked to tell me that my imaginary friends entered the lizards body. While I don’t have the lizards or the imaginary friends anymore I still LOVE animals, particularly my pet cat!
My favorite show was...
I OBSESSED over Baby Bop from Barney when I was a kid . So much so that I use to want to talk to her all the time. My dad used to dial the number to call Baby Bop every other night (I literally thought I was the coolest kid in the world talking to Baby Bop) I then found out in my teens it was my grandma I was talking to each time (and not the actress who played Baby Bop) hahahah !
My love language is....
Popcorn. I literally eat popcorn every day, it is my go to snack. So every time you see me in my Instagram stories I more than likely have a half finished bowl of popcorn somewhere nearby.
How to get to know your Vendors
The vendors that you will spend your wedding day with, like your videographers and your photographers are people you will want to take some time to get to know. We work hard to take our time getting to know you in order to create the best experience we can, but trust is a two way street. If you want to be fully comfortable in front of your photographer and videographers on your wedding day take a bit of time getting to know them so you know what to expect! You can do this by turning on your notifications for their posts and stories on Instagram, stalking their website to get to know them and seeing what they’re all about, or asking them to hop on a zoom call to talk through your experience and get to know them a bit more.
